Ray Coop FCA

Ray retired from general portfolio work a few years ago and he now heads our valuation department. Ray is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the ICAEW Valuation Community. He handles most of the firms share and business valuation work for individuals and owner managed businesses.

He is still cycling but not at a competitive level these days! He lives in an old house which takes up a lot of his time and enjoys days with his young grandchildren and doing the odd track day in his supercharged BMW Z4M.

Mark Batchelor FCA

Mark qualified in 1989 in the London office of a large firm but has lived and worked in East Kent ever since. He became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1999.

He is the principal audit partner of the firm but also has 30 years of experience with a varied general portfolio of clients including specialist work for Charities, Solicitors, Doctors, Dentists and Farming.

Mark is a Life Member of Canterbury Hockey Club and also the Treasurer.

Mike Sole FMAAT

Mike joined the firm in 1994. Mike is a Fellow Member of The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and in 2003 he was awarded the prestigious national award of Accounting Technician of the Year for his work at Batchelor Coop.

No longer working in the office on a full-time basis, Mike manages a portfolio of personal tax clients and much of the administration of the practice.

Mike ran the 2014 London Marathon, enjoys walking, photography and local politics as a councillor on Kent County Council and Canterbury City Council.

Graham Rennells FCA

Graham joined us in 2010 and manages a broad portfolio of business and personal tax clients.

Graham is very active in the local community as a church treasurer, independent examiner for several local charity groups and is a member of 41 Club (For ex Round Table) raising money for charities.

Martin Roby FMAAT

Martin joined Batchelor Coop in 2011 and has worked in East Kent accountancy practices for over fifteen years.

Martin manages a wide portfolio of clients, providing accountancy and taxation advice for local businesses, and specialises in Owner Managed Businesses both corporate and non-corporate.

He also assists Mark Batchelor in performing Audit and Compliance work for our larger corporate clients.

Outside of work, Martin is trustee of a local sports & leisure centre and a former church treasurer.

Rebecca Wanstall FCA ATT

Rebecca joined Batchelor Coop in 2021 and has worked in East Kent accountancy practices for over fifteen years.

She deals with matters for our personal tax clients including Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax.

Outside of work, Rebecca is a trustee of a local charity.

David Platt MATT

David had been with us since 2011 and also specialises in accountancy and taxation advice for all sizes of businesses.

David deals with all Company Secretarial matters for our corporate clients.

David is highly skilled with Xero, Quickbooks and Sage Bookkeeping products.

Outside of work, David is keen sports fan and can often be found on a Friday night or Saturday morning coaching his son’s youth football team.

Val Green

Having previously managed our franchise dairy department, Val now works on a variety of clients affairs assisting with bookkeeping, payroll and year end accounts.

She also carries out a number of administrative roles for the firm.

Jo Ransley MAAT

With a broad range of skills, Jo assists with year-end accounts, tax and payroll.

Jo is an expert baker and keeps everyone happy with regular homemade cakes.

Debbie Hook

Debbie heads our payroll department assisting clients with regular payroll work, CIS and furlough calculations.

Diana Hopper

Diana assists with the bookkeeping and VAT return preparation using Xero, Sage and other online bookkeeping software and assists with year end accounts.

Rebecca Laughton ACCA

Rebecca joined us in 2023 and has worked in practice for over 12 years.

Having qualified as a certified chartered accountant in 2019, she joined a top 10 firm and went onto specialise as a VAT advisor for travel businesses and other VAT matters generally.

Rebecca is highly skilled with software implementation and process solutions and works with Martin Roby assisting businesses with their accounts and tax matters.

Outside of work Rebecca is a keen runner who enjoys local sporting events.
